Knowledge for everyone!
Vincent Williams
I’ve been really struggling with the fact that, the
information that I have been learning thus far in this program is information
that every teacher should learn. The law
and ethics course is one that every teacher should take. How can we thrive in an environment where we
don’t know all the parameters and laws to protect us? Even outside of the classroom, in our everyday
lives, we move through life not having a clear understanding of our laws and
rights. Some people who operate like
this may find themselves to be a victim one way or another.
As educators, we should be educated and well versed in the
things that affect our ability to provide quality teaching for our
students. This knowledge should not be
kept for only the leaders. But what
about all of the vacancies in the districts and there are long term substitutes
in the building. They get treated the
worst by the students, parents, and the other faculty members. This essentially hurts the culture and
community. All personnel should have
some working knowledge of the laws and rights.
Students are still in a development stage where they are
trying to get away with whatever they can.
If we allow them to get away with doing the wrong thing in one
classroom, then it could potentially start chaos in the building. So, in respect to that, we have to work as a
team to help the others who do know have the same training that we are
receiving. I personally would like to
see more teamwork amongst the faculty.
Too many people just stay in their rooms and only concern themselves
with their students. Now, I know it is
the responsibility of the educational leader to foster that community
atmosphere.
